How It Started

A lifetime in the kitchen

My name is Yardana "Stacey" Wilson, and I'm originally from Spencer, Oklahoma — a proud graduate of Star Spencer High School, Class of 1979. A Bobcat for life!

I was the youngest child in a blended family of eight. Growing up, my mother didn't allow me to work outside the home — instead, I was responsible for preparing dinner and keeping the house ready for everyone coming home. Those early responsibilities are where my love for cooking, serving others, and caring for family began.

Cooking runs deep in my family. Both of my grandmothers, my mother, and my uncle were talented cooks and chefs. After working in the hair industry for 46 years, I began studying culinary arts in 2011 — and that journey eventually led to Stacey & Seeds Slappin' Soulfood. The word "Seeds" represents family: our children, grandchildren, and the generations who will carry this love and legacy forward.

From Truck to Table

2020 food truck, 2024 brick-and-mortar

In 2020, Stacey & Seeds Slappin' Soulfood began as a food truck. Through hard work, faith, and perseverance, we opened our brick-and-mortar restaurant here in Spencer in 2024. Our business has always been about more than serving delicious food — it's about serving people.

I'm proudly married to Gary Johnson. Together we have a blended family of four, along with many beloved grandchildren and godchildren. My life has been built around faith, family, food, service, and community. Without God, none of this would have been possible.

Rooted in Spencer

Giving back to the neighborhood that raised me

Spencer used to be very popular, but a lot has changed over the years and this side of town has too often been left behind. Since I'm from Spencer, I want to give back to Spencer.

Feeding kids between Star Spencer and Rogers

Part of the reason sandwiches are on our menu is Spencer's kids. If a student doesn't have anything to eat that day, I want them to be able to come and eat here instead of going without — something we're working through with the local schools to make official.

Community Day feedings

We take the food truck out for Spencer Community Day and feed folks who can't otherwise afford a meal. It's the same heart behind everything we cook, whether it's a Tuesday plate or a holiday spread.

A Sister Mission — A Separate Organization

Spencer Meals on Wheels Foundation

That same passion for giving back led to the creation of the Spencer Meals on Wheels Foundation, providing meals and compassionate support to seniors, children, veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, and others in need throughout our community.

Spencer Meals on Wheels is its own nonprofit organization, separate from Stacey & Seeds Slappin' Soulfood. We're proud to support its mission, but this website represents the restaurant only. If you'd like to learn more about the foundation or get involved, reach out through their own page.

Family Business, Family Table

Keeping it all in the family

Many of Mrs. Stacey's grandchildren work alongside her in the kitchen and front of house. Her daughter owns and operates Enoki Eats, a restaurant of her own, and another daughter runs Family Affair Food Truck — proof that the love of cooking and serving others runs strong through this family.
